SATURN’S TRANSIT OF PISCES

8 March 2023 – 15 February 2026

1st Saturn Return for people born February 1994 – April 1996

2nd Saturn Return for people born January 1964 – March 1967

Saturn is entering the sign of Pisces on 8 March 2023 for its first transit of the sign since February 1994. This marks the Saturn return for people born February  1994 – April 1996, it’s the second Saturn return for those born January 1964 – March 1967. This marks the end of 5 years of a strong Saturnian influence.  Saturn has spent the past 5 years in both Capricorn and Aquarius – both signs of its rulership. This has allowed Saturn to put its agenda forward without much interruption and allowed it to dominate our skyscapes. Living under such a strong Saturn signatures has been at time gruelling and exhausting yet sobering.

Saturn is a cold, dry planet which operates through scarcity, fear, restriction but also hard work, sacrifice, commitment and labour. Saturn is an austere planet which reminds us that rewards come through sacrifice and firm boundaries along with hard work. Strong forward planning can out do any grand and well-meaning plans, as Saturn’s rewards are collected over time. Instant gratification isn’t something Saturn prescribes too. As an austere planet it likes to stripe back and solidify the foundations of things. Strengthen and pressure testing is Saturn’s way of protecting and purifying; consequence and chicken’s coming home to roost are Saturn’s lessons. Reward after long labours or rewards after concerted efforts are also Saturnian lessons. Karma and Consequence are very much part of the Saturnian agenda.

We are now coming out of five years of Saturn in signs of its rulership which will feel like its own chunk of time. It has a heaviness about it and looking back to see how far you have come; can be something of its own reward. What has been achieved, worked towards or fallen away since 21 December 2017 ?  What lessons have been learnt? What home truths have we had to dig to reclaim or let go of? How have we restructured our lives over since December 2017?  Saturn’s transit through Capricorn and Aquarius has been a lot and it’s a good thing it only occurs every 30 years.

When Saturn moves into Pisces, it will be quite a tonal shift, as Saturn loses its hard edge and become more Piscean in how it operates. Saturn and Pisces are odd bedfellows which are very different in nature, making the next three years a very different Saturn experience; which isn’t a bad thing after five years of peak Saturn. Pisces is mutable water, which is receptive, intuitive and moist. Saturn is the opposite being cold and dry with boundaries and distance as significations. So how will these two things work together?

Pisces is a sign in which structure and planning are not high on the agenda, it’s a more receptive sign which is more Jupiterian in quality. It is more rather than less; it prefers connection rather than being closed off. Its more focused on the bigger picture than the finer details of one specific thing.

Pisces energy is about a feeling, not boundaries.

Pisces being creative and intuitive in nature gives Saturn the opportunity so softens its hard edges and open it up to more to everything. Saturn’s transit of Pisces will allow the deep waters of Pisces to soften its edges and immerse itself into something new and something less defined while still keeping it’s Saturnian nature. Its important to make sure we aren’t resistant to this new terrain, as corrosion from being unwilling to adjust or move in this new atmosphere is one pit fall of this new environment we now enter.

Saturn when in Pisces will give Pisces the strength and structure required to get its bigger plans off the ground, something Pisces energy can lack. Saturn’s attention to planning helps bring Piscean visions into being. Doing the work is just as important as having the inspiration and idea. Saturn will offer Pisces the opportunity to formalise or take that step forward in building its dreams, turning them into reality through labour and commitment. When you commit to Saturn it pays off. The only disclaimer, it takes time, Saturn’s time tends to run slower.

Past transits of Saturn in Pisces have seen an upswing in creativity, it tends to be a more creatively fruitful time for society. Music, film, television, arts, literature are productive and more supported as industries when Saturn is in Pisces. The above dates for our Pisces saturn returners covers the swinging 60s in London, Beatle-mania as well as the 90s Britpop years if we look at UK Music alone; they were formative and creatively productive years for the music industry.

Anyone seeking to come out of the dreamscape into reality – Saturn offers a very important hand. Structure is offered to those who might need it most with regards to any excessive consumption for the purpose of escapism, or at the very least they receive a reality check. As I write this more attention is being given to gambling and there is talk of more legislature towards it in Australia as its damaging consequences are becoming harder to ignore. Consequences to negative forms of escapism might become more pronounced. The act of psychic protection might also become more common over this transit as people seek to protect themselves energetically from over simulation or negative energy.

Saturn will bring some cold realities to the Piscean dreamscape but there is also an opportunity for these Piscean visions to be given the structure and scaffolding required to make something quite exquisite. Escapism is given an anchor; which for some might be helpful. Perhaps these odd bed fellows might be quite a good team after all.  Saturn’s transit of Pisces is an interesting combination but one which will bear many fruits over the next three years as it dives head first into the imaginarium.

JUPITER’S INGRESS INTO PISCES: BIG MAGIC

JUPITER’S TRANSIT OF PISCES

14 MAY – 29 JULY 2021

Jupiter returned home to its domicile Pisces on Friday 14 May 2021; making it the first transit of Pisces in 12 years. This is a transit that many astrologers have kept an eye on due to its benevolent nature, after such difficult times. Who doesn’t love a benefic planet in its rulering sign? The last time Jupiter worked from such strength was 2019, when it was transiting Sagittarius its other ruling sign.

Jupiter spends just over 2 months in Pisces before it retrogrades back into Aquarius before its moves back into Pisces in late December 2021. This is a little taster or beginning phase of this powerful transit. Looking to where you have Pisces in your chart allows you to see where this beneficence will manifest.

Jupiter is a planet of optimism, knowledge, teachers, gurus, learnings, travel, gifts but also dogma and zealots. Pisces is a sign of creativity and encompassing of well, everything; while staying undefinable and elusive.  Notable that the hostilities in the Gaza strip, started 7 days out from the ingress of Jupiter into Pisces.

As exciting at this transit is and as wonderful as it is to have the greater benefic back at full strength. We must also look at the co-presence of Neptune during this transit of Jupiter in Pisces. As highlighted by the wonderful and talented Astrologer, Diana Rose Harper; Neptune’s co-presence in Pisces with Jupiter allows for a real danger of a rise in delusional belief’s, cult shit and a rise in charlatans. The presence of charlatan’s is age old and has been more noticeable as Neptune reached the mid-point of its transit in Pisces. Jupiter now adding to the equation, is prime picking for illusions of grandeur, cult like figure coming out of the woodwork and just plain old bad guru’s and teacher. Be mindful of who presents and don’t be sucked into things that are too good to be true, they probably are. The opportunity of them appearing now is real.

More to come, as these are first thoughts, observations and connections to other people’s observations. But in honour of Jupiter’s ingress we must celebrate that, it is goodit is exciting, but it also does have aspects that are multi-faceted. Pisces energy is easy to get lost in thanks to its encompassing nature. Like all transits, it’s never straight-forwards, but it is something to be excited about along with sticking to your core values so you can contain this massive, inspirational, creative energetic shift as we have now entered its portal. More to come … but the opportunity for ‘Big Magic’ is forming.

SATURN IN CAPRICORN: WALKING FROM THE DARKNESS

NICK CAVE : Still from ‘Idiot Prayer’

SATURN IN CAPRICORN (21 DECEMBER 2017 –18 DECEMBER 2020)

14 days remain with Saturn in Capricorn.  Saturn’s transit of it’s home or domicile sign has been influencing the skyscapes since 21 December 2017. Since then Saturn has been stronger and more stern than usual, due to his rulership in Capricorn. A supercharged Saturn likes to strip back, boosts conservatism and consequences of actions Et cetera.

With conservatism and consequence being the plate du jour for the past three years and hard work with sacrifice being our new drug of choice, whether you were initially willing or not, Saturn in Capricorn has not been without it small rewards. Saturn rewards strong focus, over long periods of time and absorbing the cold hard reality checks. Saturn likes dealing with the hard and messy stuff, by cutting away, all that does not fit, or all that is not fit for purpose, sans any emotional consideration or attachment.

Saturn’s servings aren’t always pleasant, and they aren’t always palatable, which is probably why we only get a dose of Saturn in Capricorn every 28 – 30 years.  Saturnian realization’s arn’t those that come lightly. Death tends to be more prominent both physically and metaphorically and is a signifier as to when Saturn is strong in transit or strongly placed during a period of time.  Saturn nickname old father time, often pictured as death or with a scythe, is something we face more prominently when Saturn transits Capricorn.

As Saturn soaks up the last days of his transit in Capricorn, solidifying the last of his lessons or impacts, for the next 28 years, it’s a good time to reflect on the lessons , re-routes, ambitions, the losses, the grief, the depression, the reality checks, the small incremental wins and what has survived outside all the suffering of the past 3 years.

Saturn as it leaves Capricorn; begins to perfect its aspect to Jupiter. Creating what Astrologers refer to as the “Great Conjunction”. The “Great Conjunction” as Astrologer Austin Coppock has outlined, is one the main timekeepers for humanity’s ability to keep time and records, outside the rising of the Sun each day, and the Lunar cycles and phases. Saturn Jupiter conjunctions can be seen as an extension of the astronomical clock for measuring time as humans, marking consistently 20 year, 200 year or 800 year cycles. This Saturn cycle, sees his exit from Capricorn, coinciding with the beginning of all three new cycles of time at once with this great conjunction with Jupiter.

Saturn moving out of Capricorn, and its meeting Jupiter, begins a new 20, 200-year cycle, that was last seen 800 years ago simultaneously. Not a bad punch to leave on for old father time as he exits a sign of such strength and renewal. The perfection of Saturn or “Old Father Time” to leave Capricorn and then begin these’s cycle on the Summer/Winter Solstice, shows that for all his coldness and sternness, Saturn isn’t afraid to try new things and continues to play with our perceptions and experience of what time is and how it impacts us.

Now is a great time to look over the difficulties, reality checks, the hard work, the lessons, our relationship with time and ageing along with what we wish to plan and achieve as small yet realistic goals over the next 28 year Saturn cycle. Saturn leaves a place of strength and authority, so this is an important cycle that is resetting. Things will clearly be different in 28 years time, But the aim is to make it better and to plan out the best road forwards, minimising the aggressive consequences to our actions. Now we need to start choosing our decisions more wisely and think about what we can cut back, and sustain, over longer periods of time. Climate change and sustainable living seems to be an obvious and urgent part of this narrative, as we come to the end of 2020 and this Saturn in Capricorn cycle.

To be honest, its a transit people probably wont miss, but its one we need to keep in the back of our minds. Old Father Time never forgets. As Saturn continues his way in to Aquarius, a sign Saturn also rules, we look to the differences of the two signs and how Saturn can rule two signs with such different significations and purposes. In Aquarius the rules are different and the topography very different, as we move from the dizzying heights and lonely terrain we have been navigating in Capricorn, into a space of vision and aspirations with more inclusiveness and collectable accountability. More on this soon, along with the impending Jupiter Saturn conjunction. But for now, Saturn, as you sit upon my Sun for the third time this year……. I bid you Adieu. Those with heavy Capricorn placements, for example Sun, Moon or Ascendant, can finally sigh in relief, as our once in 28 year lessons in responsibility, action and consequence begins to fade into a new experiences.
