DECEMBER 2020 MONTHLY HOROSCOPES

December’s astrology is just as captivating and powerful as the astrology that opened the year. January’s Saturn Pluto conjunction brought with it some powerful events, which follow strongly the patterns of previous Saturn Pluto conjunction’s. Archetypal Astrologer Richard Tarnas describes the Saturn Pluto conjunctions as ‘Cycles of Crisis and Contraction’.

December brings us the tail end of the year as well as the ‘Great Conjunction’ of Jupiter and Saturn. More to come on this separately in a new post, however December’s Jupiter Saturn conjunction, begins both a new 20 and 200 year cycle at the same time. Add in Eclipse season and a solstice to the mix, its is a huge month.

December looks to round out the year with just as much dynamic and captivating astrology that has been a trademark of both 2020 and the new decade.

ARIES / ARIES RISING

Jupiter and Saturn’s conjunction on the summer solstice establishes fresh connections within your community and social networks. LUNAR ECLIPSE (Gemini & Sagittarius Axis)

30 NOVEMBER 2020 AEDT 

November 30th (AEDT) sees the second full moon in a calendar month, often referred too as a blue moon. Blue moons are actually relatively common, more common than most of the large-scale planetary alignments of 2020. 

This Full Moon is also a Lunar eclipse,  opening our eclipse season on the new Gemini / Sagittarius axis which began in Gemini season earlier this year. 

The Lunar eclipse of 30 November, as it’s a penumbral lunar eclipse, only a shadow will hit the moon, rather than the regalia of a total lunar eclipse. However, astrologically and magically, an eclipse is still an eclipse. Although not as visually spectacular as the 26 May 2021 Total Lunar Eclipse, this eclipse still has a bit bite, thanks to the conjunction of 2 of the 4 royal fixed stars.

The Sun conjoins Antares and the full Moon conjoins Aldebaran, for this eclipse, giving it a very volatile and aggressive mars like quality. Both Antares and Aldebaran are out for conquest. As these alignments are on an eclipse axis, there is a blurring or shadowing effect. 

Things are very much not as they seem. Unseen actions and power moves are at play, so drawing down this energy is potentially problematic. This is not a full moon to be playing with, unless you like to bring unexpected power plays into your life. 

Resting and staying hydrated during the actual eclipse is recommended along with keeping a low profile. Eclipse can be blind spots or quickening of events, having Antares and Aldebaran being brought into the mix, gives this eclipse some real fire power. 

Re-entering the eclipse season of 2020, it seems appropriate to have such potent points activated as we begin the wrapping up of 2020.  Watch this space, and be mindful of what you choose to do with this energy.

NEW MOON IN SCORPIO

SUNDAY 15 NOV 16:08 AEST 

The new moon in Scorpio is kind of an interesting one ! Mars the ruler of this lunation, is recently stationed direct. Although lacking in pace, mars is operating in the right direction and is able to build some forward motion, much like the new moon. Mars recently direct offers a positive influence after so much intensity that was created with its three months retrograde. This mars ruled new moon, offers a nice little resting/restart point. 

The New Moon has a lovely sextile to Jupiter, giving some optimism around capricornian things such as money or benefits from people in power or authoritarian roles such as workplace bosses or those who have power and influence. Be open to assistance from those in positions of authority over the next two weeks, there might be a nice helping hand. Or you take on that role and position to assist others, with your own ability to influence and help others, through your own powers and privledges.

Mercury is opposite Uranus in Taurus. Mercury sharing the same space as the new moon in Scorpio, give a little boost to mercantile things such as trade, business, perhaps writing and communication. Uranus is the unseen opportunity or idea. Be open to the unexpected opportunity of exchange.

Overall, it’s an interesting new moon, with some really nice areas for opportunity and expansion, especially as the moon waxes towards its fullness. Keeping in mind this is the last lunation before eclipse season begins. So, this is the last moon we have that isn’t impacted by eclipses for the next few lunar cycles. The new moon in Scorpio, has some nice things going on with it, so feel free to dip your toes into it and see what transpires:)

MARS IN ARIES 2020 : THE STATION DIRECT

MARS STATION DIRECT IN ARIES

Today Mars the red planet, stations direct after three months of retrogradation in Aries the sign it rules, and this is great news! 

Mars, retrogrades every two years and it’s a planet that isn’t particularly fond of doing so either. Retrogrades slow down and imbed Mars, a planet whose primary significations are about motion, fast pace and action. When retrograde this pace and action slows down, it causes frustration and friction due to the lack of momentum. Such frustrations can turn inward as the environment around you slows down. Mars is powerful in Aries, due to its rulership; this coupled with the fact that mars also retrogrades least in Aries out of all of the zodiacal signs, had made the last three months particularly stressful.

Mars turned retrograde September 10thand it’s at this time reflections or struggles became more apparent or deepened. Perhaps there were other things agitating situations that you weren’t previously aware of.

Re looking at your personal power, strength or what rouses anger could have been areas for redress. Depending on where this is occurring in your personal chart. Anyone with personal planets in Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn, would have been more heavily impacted by this Mars Retrograde. Collectively Mars putting strain on Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto in late Capricorn has definitely created an element of tension, that has continued to simmer over the second half of 2020. Things have been on the verge and felt like they were going to get lit and exploding at any moment.  Keeping a coolness around all the heat anger around us, has definitely been a way of life and a state of being, since Mars entered Aries on June 29th.

Mars turning direct today, does make things more erratic than usual, but the good news is, we are moving to a place where we can finally gain some traction and get things moving again with a more assured sense of what direction we wish to direct our energy. The other benefit of this movement forwards of Mars, is being able to mould our tools in a sharper and more effective fashion. Mars finally leaves Aries after 6 months (instead of the usual two months) in early January, and it is at that time, we will feel the heat turned down just a little, as we move away from the tectonic shifts of 2020’s astrology, with more tools and aids at our disposal.

MERCURY’S RETROGRADE of SCORPIO 2020 

(14 OCTOBER – 4 NOVEMBER) 

Today Mercury begins its retrograde phase at 11 ° Scorpio. In 2020 Mercury has been making its stirrings and re-messaging services available in the zodiac’s water signs (Cancer, Scorpio & Pisces) offering reflection and upgrades of your connection to these portals of your chart.

Today’s Mercury retrograde occurs just 2 hours after its ruler Mars hits its exact midpoint of its own retrograde cycle with its opposition to the Sun. Mercury starting its own retrograde motion just after this mid-point of the Mars retrograde is interesting timing, creating an interconnection and opportunity of exchange, helping to evolve the Aries and Scorpio areas of your chart. 

Quietening down, reflecting and reviewing personal connection to and themes of power, assertion, energy and dominance especially in the emotional context is something that will up for re-negotiation and difficult to avoid. How you can evolve and develop this relationship between anger, emotion, power and feelings will be easier to access, but not necessarily pleasant. Regardless, it will be on the agenda for the next 3 weeks.

In addition, the retrograde begins directly opposite Uranus, which gives this time an unpredictable and innovate flavour. Uranus likes to surprise and will be adding an element of unpredictability to this particular Mercury transit. It’s possible feelings may rise out of ‘nowhere’.

OCTOBER MONTHLY HOROSCOPES 2020

The Astrological weather for October is choppy to say the least, with the upcoming Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, coinciding with its ruler, Mars also being retrograde in Aries. These retrogrades are along side some rather challenging lunation’s this month, so strong precaution is advised; for both how you use this energy and what battles you decide to take on. October is a month where caution and self care will stand in good stead. Pushing forwards with activities and intentions that feel like they are an uphill battle, or a struggling to get up and running, most likely need more time to develop and nurture.

The Month opens on October 1st/2nd, with a full moon in Aries making it a potentially hostile lunation due to its increasing proximity to Mars. The following day (October 2nd/3rd) may present some hostility or aggression being exhibited, as emotions (the Moon) may spill over or become abrasive and hostile (Mars) as the two finally conjoin.

The New Moon in Libra on October 16th also finds itself in a rather difficult situation, as it is opposed by Mars and squared by both Saturn and Pluto. Following the familiar terrain of other plants who have run the gauntlet through the late cardinal degrees in recent months. Having the luminaries (The Sun and Moon) as the meat or protein in a Malefic sandwich, we have all established is no fun, and definitely NOT the kind of energy you want to be manifesting or drawing down your life long dreams from.

Overall, its a month to sit tight in and navigate the choppy weather through awareness and self care. October is one of the more trickier months in 2020, so proceed with care and know once we have moved past October, we will be beginning to near the end of the Cardinal Crush. Meaning, the planetary energies will begin to separate slight and not challenge each other so much. MERCURY IN SCORPIO ⚡️ (27 SEPT – 2 DEC)🔮 

Mercury’s ingress into Scorpio sees us moving away from the hostilities of the (Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra axis) and dive into the deep chasm of Scorpio’s fixed water.  

Mercury’s time in Scorpio is giving off a strong Hecate vibe, where looking deep into the stagnate waters gives opportunity to claim authority, authorship and divinity through these underworld waterscapes. 

Scorpio is a private yin fixed water sign and a place Mercury can work well.  Mercury enjoys the sharp focus and dedication that Scorpio offers. However, the strong emotional ambiance of Scorpio can detract from the clarity of information that Mercury is seeking. Being mindful of the nature AND intent of these obsessive and fixations, is one important proviso for this transit.  

Mars, rules Scorpio and is extremely strong right now, giving Mercury’s time in Scorpio a little extra heat and bite. This blurs the line around the separation of emotion from the information and increases the likelihood of strong emotions to flare up, to be engaged with.  

Scorpio is a sign that likes to look at things that others refuse to, creating space to hold and engage. It’s not always pleasant going through the muck and sorting through the crap to help unblock the blockages; but it’s something that Mercury in Scorpio excels at! 

Mercury has an extended stay in Scorpio thanks to its Retrograde cycle (14 Oct – 4 Nov). We are already in the shadow period. Mercury will also be opposing Uranus. Making this transit, potentially very fruitful with regards to innovating and individualising the area of your chart that Scorpio lords over and reconnecting an emotional intelligence to it.

WHEN JUPITER TURNS DIRECT IN CAPRICORN …

The Golden Girls

Jupiter turned direct in Capricorn over the weekend which isn’t a bad thing, it just not an overly huge thing in the context of it all.  Jupiter maybe direct, but extremely limited with what it can do. Jupiter is in a sign it doesn’t relate to in Capricorn as well having to live with the cold, domineering, tyrannous flatmate called Saturn. Saturn is strong in Capricorn, so it’s his way or the highway, Jupiter hasn’t got much muscle flex around here. Pluto is also bunking in there in all his dark cave like qualities. Add to this the aspects to Mars in Aries, and Jupiter direct kind of just means he has to deal with the implications of connecting his gloomy flatmates, and volatile neighbours. Jupiter in Capricorn is hardly the barrel of laughs that Jupiter is known for or enjoys. In 2020 this has been taken to the extreme thanks to the hostility that surrounds poor Jupiter.

Jupiter direct however does mean, that it is moving in the right direction, the direction of getting the hell out of there. Jupiter is now making its way towards his 3rd conjunction with Pluto. The previous 2 conjunctions were April 4, June 30, and the third hit will be 12 November 2020.    

Jupiter Pluto is a combination that can have many manifestations, depending on the sign it is occurring in. In Capricorn we can see it via the huge Covid-19 bailouts, which seemed to have helped corporations / business more than the general population. The money thrown around by global governments is Jupiter size huge, but is it going to the people who need it most?   In Melbourne the first 2 conjunctions timed pretty well closely to the establishment and re-implement of state lockdowns (remembering Jupiter Pluto are in conjunction for a week either side of these dates).  The third hit will be just after the US Presidential election. Jupiter in Capricorn is just amplifying and expanding Capricorn significations such as Government, Control and things that Jupiter doesn’t enjoy.  

So, will Jupiter be turning direct do much? Not really, especially since his retrograde cycle is very well established as a part of his cycle. I wouldn’t put too much weight on the direct motion. This is a Jupiter whose hands are bound and is basically out of action until he leaves Capricorn. Post this third date night with Pluto, he makes his way to chase down Saturn. That is its own epic story … that will soon be told. xx

MARS RETROGRADE IN ARIES: FINDING OUR VALOUR

Today Mars stands stationary in the sky, by tomorrow Mars makes his move to retrieve something that can’t be left behind, retrieve something that must be changed, altered or modified through his intense heat and pressure. Something must be re-sculpted and how this looks will be different and personal for each and every-one of us. The Mars retrograde is finally upon us. 

Mars will be hitting on the iron metal, stoking the fires, burning hot and bright in ways we aren’t especially used too. Strong desires and urges to completely change or modify things that are seeded in anger, frustration, fury or tiredness become obvious and in dire need of modification. The focus shifts to making constructive uses for our tools and learning how to master the tools we do have with more vigour, will and strength.

Mastery comes from learning from past mistakes and learning how to hold tools that have the potential for danger or harm, whist modifying and sculpting for constructive uses. Looking at what is really causing harm or damage, strongly underlays this Mars retrograde period, allowing you to use your tools more wisely.

Mars will be going back and reclaiming many things on many levels, but in-particular finishing off what was triggered from mid-February – March. Mars will be squaring and making contact with the things he ignited then when he transited Capricorn, a sign he has a firm footing in, thanks to his exaltation in Capricorn.

Mars retrogrades occur every two years and Mars retrograding in his ruling sign of Aries is especially rare. 1988 and 1941 were the last instances this astrological transit occurred in Aries.

The question now is, what is currently being re-sculpted or sharpened through the fire and fumes? What is having the rust removed from and asking for a full refurbishment? Where do hostilities lay? Where does your anger sit? What Weapons have become blunt? What tools are outdated? Where is a lack of energy or vitality sit within you? What is the source of any and all burn out?

Answers to these questions is where the steam of this Mars Retrograde is coming from and we have from now until November to work on our skills as craftspeople to mould and reshape whilst looking at our relationship with Mars, his dynamics and various manifestations.
